The Idol: The Weeknd and Lily-Rose Depps controversial series gets cancelled after one season
The Idol, Sam Levinson’s controversial show starring The Weeknd, Lily-Rose Depp, Blackpink’s Jennie and others has been cancelled after one season. The show follows a young pop star who gets entangled with a cult after meeting a nightclub owner.As per multiple reports, the show will not have a second season after its 5-episodes run. A report mentioned that after much thought and consideration, the makers decided not to go ahead with another season.

The Idol made headlines for all the wrong reasons. The show which premiered back in June this year, garnered flak for its disturbing sexual content, violence and alleged toxic work environment behind the scenes.

So far, the cast members of The Idol have not spoken out against the series’ content. The show also featured Hari Nef, Jane Adams, Rachel Sennott and Da’Vine Joy Rudolph among others.
