Written by Kim Sun Deok, the mind behind the widely acclaimed Korean drama The Crowned Clown, Captivating the King unfolds amidst a tumultuous backdrop of royal and political power struggles. Within this intricate narrative, a king becomes entwined with a fascinating woman, whose concealed thirst for revenge evolves unexpectedly into an unintended love story.
The 52-second teaser showcases Shin Se-kyung disguised as a man to befriend King Yi played by Jo Jung-suk. They first meet while hiding their true identities, and they developed a strong connection while playing baduk (Go). The teaser then takes an intense turn and showcases Shin Se-kyung seeking revenge on the King.
Captivating The King is all set to premiere on January 21, 2024.
