Eagle's mayor elect Brad Pike starting with unity

EAGLE, Idaho (CBS2) — Eagle's mayor-elect, Brad Pike, says he will lead the city into the future. Pike is excited as he anticipates the privilege of leading the city but also understands the importance of his position, saying, "I'm still just Brad. But there is a responsibility and I take that very seriously."
The recent mayoral race was a challenging one, as it came down to a runoff between Pike and the previous Eagle mayor, Jason Pierce. Pike says it was very stressful for all and it seemed some, "chose sides instead of looking for who could be the best leader for all of us." With the fragmented past, Pike is moving forward saying, "I'm trying to establish harmony in a cohesive city back together and we need to heal."
With some unsettled by the unknown Pike says the first 90 days are not going to hold major changes. His goal is to connect and communicate with people, he says he understands he wasn't everyone's first choice, "I really want to have the opportunity to have conversations and sit down even with the people that didn't have confidence and didn't vote for me but at least think he's receptive to my concerns."
Many are concerned about downtown and Pike says, after some settling in, a focus of his will be making sure Eagle is financially sound. He says, "I really want that economic stability in the whole city. Not just downtown but that's kind of our core area."
Pike says a successful term to him would be positivity from the Eagle community and for people to be comfortable going to him and voicing their concerns, knowing he is there for them.
